PROJECT OVERVIEW

Geovert installed a massive 10,000kJ rockfall barrier system to protect dam infrastructure in Kern, California. The specialized geohazard mitigation installation represents one of the highest-capacity flexible barrier systems deployed in the region, designed to safeguard against potentially catastrophic rockfall events. The project required rapid mobilization for procurement and installation of a highly specialized barrier system while balancing immediate protection needs with long-term maintainability in a sensitive geological environment.

Rockfall Mitigation
PROJECT SOLUTION

The implemented barrier system utilizes high-tensile steel nets combined with energy-dissipating brake elements, engineered for optimal impact absorption. Operating primarily within its elastic deformation range, the modular design incorporates individually replaceable components, minimizing routine maintenance requirements and enabling cost-effective component replacement. The system's verified 10,000kJ impact energy rating without failure demonstrates exceptional capacity for absorbing kinetic energy from major rockfall events. Geovert successfully managed the logistics of large-scale components while working around dam infrastructure, delivering a comprehensive protection system that provides a sustainable, maintainable asset with long-term value for the owner.
