PROJECT OVERVIEW
At the Fortuna Sill Project, a complex geological formation presented significant geotechnical challenges for highwall stability and threatened to impede access to valuable ore reserves. Recognizing the need for proactive intervention, the Mine Geotechnical team engaged Geovert to develop and implement a ground support strategy that would ensure both immediate stability and long-term access to the ore body.

PROJECT SOLUTION
We utilized our specialised drilling fleet, specifically the SuperBoom and High Reach Drill (HRD) to maximize installation efficiency on the 50ft batter face. Initial surface preparation was executed through technical rope access, enabling precise installation conditions for the engineered high-tensile mesh system.
The HRD units, supported by rope access technicians, achieved superior production rates compared to conventional wagon drills, while the SuperBoom provided additional installation flexibility and reach. This integrated approach maintained mining cycle continuity while effectively managing the altered intrusion zone.
The collaborative execution between the Mine Geotechnical team and Geovert resulted in a solution that successfully transformed challenging geological conditions into manageable terrain, enabling safe access to previously inaccessible ore reserves.
